The Protocol That Loses Your Subnet Masks
RIP is running on both routers and the LANs still cannot reach each other.
Scenario
Kesterly Mills still runs RIP between its two plant routers, a survivor of a much older network. Both routers are up, both have RIP configured over the correct networks, and the point-to-point link between them works. Hosts on the two plant LANs cannot reach each other. Get the two LANs talking without changing any addressing.
Learning objectives
- rip
- classful routing
- vlsm
- subnet masks
- troubleshooting
Topology and configuration
This environment contains 4 devices (2 Hosts, 2 Routers). You configure and troubleshoot the networking skills listed above.
Curriculum topics
Environment
Subnetica labs run FRRouting and Linux networking with Cisco-like syntax, not Cisco IOS. Commands and behavior may differ from Cisco devices.
Addressing is regenerated on every attempt and the environment is graded automatically.
